Vietnamese economy ranks fourth in ASEAN

Viet Nam’s GDP reached $476.3 billion in 2024, surpassing the Philippines to become the fourth-largest economy in ASEAN. The country led the ASEAN-6 in GDP growth at 7.09% and ranked fifth in GDP per capita at $4,711. 

The National Assembly approved an 8% GDP growth target for 2025, with the economy expected to surpass $500 billion and per capita income exceeding $5,000 this year. IMF projections place Viet Nam’s GDP at $506 billion in 2024, ranking 33rd globally. 

Seasia Stats highlights the country’s rapid expansion, fueled by manufacturing and foreign investment. The Centre for Economics and Business Research forecasts Viet Nam’s GDP will grow at 5.8% annually, surpassing Singapore by 2029 and reaching $1.41 trillion by 2039. 

Oxford Economics predicts Viet Nam will remain ASEAN-6’s fastest-growing economy, with 6.5% growth in 2025. Key drivers include a strong manufacturing sector, export growth, and rising foreign investment, with FDI inflows expected to grow 7.2% next year.
