How Do You Bring Your Pet to Vietnam?

Vietnam is a beautiful country which has been an attractive destination for expats and travelers. Unlike many countries, when you bring your pets to Vietnam you won’t be forced to get them registered, no need pet passport. If you are planning to come to Vietnam with your Pet, this article reviews what you should note before and after arrival.

  • You are advisable to get your pet micro-chipped or put a collar around their necks and have a leash in hand to make sure your pets don’t run away.
  • Vietnamese law requires you to get your pets vaccinated for rabies, leukemia, calicivirus, para influenza and other viruses 30 days or 12 months prior to the trip.
  • People traveling from USA or Canada to Vietnam along with their pets are required to get a complete Health Care Certificate signed from a veterinarian that clearly states that the animal is clear of any viruses or illnesses causing bacteria.
  • Before booking a flight for yourself, do your research on whether pets are allowed on-board or not.
  • You should check in advance if the hotel/apartment allows you to live with your pet or not? At some apartment buildings in large cities in Vietnam, they ban pets.
